As of Sunday 7 January 2018, All Shorts Limited cut all its trade associations with Ebay. The news comes in the wake of the company’s initial announcement made in June last year to close its Ebay shop.
Originally, All Shorts decided the shop would close in August 2017. However, following a meeting in the summer, the board agreed that the shop remain open until the end of the year.
All Shorts Limited’s Managing Director, Alistaire Anderson, said: “At that time, Ebay were introducing several changes to its Cassini search engine algorithms and shop subscriptions.” Reasoning: Unsure how these changes would affect us, we decided to give Ebay the benefit of the doubt and subsequently took the decision to extend our shop subscription for a further six months.
“Six months down the line, however, it transpired, these changes turned out to be more counter-productive for us as a company, than a triumph.” Adding: “We concluded Ebay was not the most lucrative option for our line of business, with visitor traffic and buyer engagement at unprecedentedly low levels.” Admitting: “we would be best channelling our energy and savings in other avenues. Hence, the decision was taken shortly before Christmas that our Ebay Shop subscription terminate on 7 January 2018.”
He added: “This latest move will most definitely afford us more time to concentrate on our highly successful online retail enterprise and Ecommerce platforms for our corporate customers as a champion of scholastic and occasion wear for boys 3 - 13 years.”
Although empty – and in accordance with Ebay trading policy, All Shorts Ebay shop will remain open until 1 February 2018 to ensure any outstanding transactions made within the last 30 days complete successfully.
“With all existing stock safely transferred to our online store, means existing Ebay customers looking to purchase merchandise from us, should now visit www.allshortsuk.co.uk where you will find more products, more ways to pay, free delivery for all our UK customers and highly competitive postage rates for international consumers.”
Yet, it wasn’t all doom and gloom. “During our two year Tenure on Ebay, we had much to celebrate,” conceded Mr Anderson; “initially going from basic seller level to Ebay top rated in the space of 12 months, coupled with an unwavering 100% customer feedback portfolio and a less than 1% returns record.”
“To this end, we would very much like to thank all our Ebay customers for their business and loyalty over the past twelve months and trust you will accept our invitation to remain aboard our company’s chariot as we openly embrace the next exciting phase of our journey full of energising new opportunities and even brighter prospects.”
